ONE OF CHESSTER'S FAVORITE CHESS TACTICS

Imagine you're playing a game of chess with your friend, and you've just moved your rook to a square that puts their queen in danger. But wait - their queen is protected by a pesky bishop! How can you get rid of that bishop and capture their queen? 🤔

Well, my friend, it's time to pull out the old DEFLECTION TACTIC. You make a sneaky move with your knight, attacking their bishop and forcing it to move away from its spot protecting the queen. Now, with the bishop out of the way, you swoop in with your rook and capture their queen! Victory is yours!

Now if they are smarter than the average cow they will allow you to capture the bishop as the queen is worth more to the player. Despite this, you are still winning material without giving up any pieces 🥇

The deflection tactic can be beneficial in situations allowing an edge on your opponent. In some scenarios, you have to make sure you are calculating trading pieces correctly because if not say goodbye to your pieces :(

THE ITALIAN GAME EXPLAINED

Ah, the Italian Game - the perfect opening for any chess player with a love of fine wines, delicious pasta, and strategic maneuvers. It starts with a simple move - e4 - and quickly evolves into a delicious dance of knights, bishops, and pawns, as White attempts to control the center of the board and build a strong position for the midgame 💪

Here is the visual:

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 4. c3 Nf3 5. d4

Now the Italian Game is a very common chess opening but is more aimed at beginners in chess as it is very easy to remember and allows you to have great positioning.

But of course, as any true Italian knows, the key to success is in the details - and the Italian Game is no exception. As White, you'll need to be on the lookout for Black's counterattacks, which can come quickly and unexpectedly.

Most importantly, pour yourself a glass of Chianti, twirl your mustache, and get ready to put your strategic skills to the test. Whether you're a seasoned grandmaster or a humble beginner, the Italian Game is a classic opening that's sure to delight and challenge you in equal measure. And who knows - with a little luck and a lot of practice, you might just find yourself crowned the king - or queen - of the chessboard 🍀
